Faith Makes the World Go Round

My friend, Debra at Pure and Simple, recently wrote a column called Those Peculiar People; in which she describes a family who lives in her neighborhood.  What’s peculiar about them?

–They dress differently.
–They act differently.

What REALLY struck me, what REALLY moved me to write this column is their strong faith.  Now does that surprise you?  If it does this MUST be your first time visiting my blog.  If that is the case, I highly recommend your visiting my bio.

Debra writes:
One day we heard that the mother had cancer; the prognosis was grim. It appeared that she was on her deathbed when we went to pray for her.

David, one of the sons, appreciated all the prayers for her peaceful entry into glory land, but stated in no uncertain terms that he was walking by faith, not sight. His mother would be healed, he did not doubt in his heart.

It is unfortunate that even now we sometimes have an initial challenge with people who wear their faith on their sleeve.  To those not inclined to have such faith, to those who don’t walk the same path, what is our reaction?

–We roll our eyes.
–We sigh in frustration
–We shut them out or worse yet we walk away.

Why do you think we do that?
Is it because we feel uncomfortable with someone different?

If we only take a moment to look beyond what we perceive as challenges as Debra did we may just find that we are all more similar than we are different.  After all as I’m fond of saying here and out in the world:
–We are all connected.
–Everything is connected.

Why fight it?
Why struggle against the fact?
If we only accept each of us, if we only look past our differences we will see we are more alike than we care to admit.

There are no differences.
We are all connected.

Those of us on this path all believe there is a power greater than ourselves; whether you call it God, Source, Higher Power, we all should agree that there is a greater power than ourselves and if we give our lives over to that power we will see the miraculous in the every day.

Love doesn’t make the world go round.
Faith does.

I’m reminded of Saint Thomas Aquinas and his quote on faith now:
To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.

That’s my entire world view.  Not ONLY does faith make THE world go round, faith makes MY world go round.  Take away my faith and you take away me.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

  1. And me, too.

  2. Chris, when I read this, I’m reminded of a scripture, “Without faith it’s impossible to please God.” (Hebrews 11:56).

That quote by Saint Thomas Aquinas is so apropos.

    On differences, you said,
    “Why fight it?
    Why struggle against the fact?
If we only accept each of us, if we only look past our differences we will see we are more alike than we care to admit.”

And yet there are some I’ve been dealing with recently who want to fight and judge and bicker over things that no more matter than a gnat. That’s why I haven’t been on the blogosphere recently; my creative energy has been quenched by all manner of faithless folks. Pray for me Chris 😉
