Don’t Focus on Success

If you focus on success, you’ll have stress. But if you pursue excellence, success will be guaranteed.

Deepak Chopra

A favorite, recurring theme on Wisdom and Life.  A correlation to this and something I’m fond of saying is:
Don’t chase the money.

Why not?

Because if you chase the money, if as Deepak says, you chase success, you’ll only be gathering resistance, you’ll only be chasing your shadow.  What you’ll find in the end is as Deepak states:

Because money isn’t the object.
Because money shouldn’t be the object.
Because success isn’t the object.

If you compare yourself to someone who has been successful and you decide to go beyond them, but only by chasing more success, more money, you will fail because the stress you feel chasing achievement, will only intensify as you continually grasp for that golden egg.  Do you really want to be fiscally successful, but emotionally drained?  Because that’s what will happen.

You may become financially blessed but I know many people who are fortunate fiscally but live an emotionally turbulent life?

Because these people spend their lives chasing the money, chasing the success.  So if you’re not supposed to chase the money, then what are you supposed to pursue?  Well, let me ask you that same question?

What do YOU suppose someone should chase?

Would love to hear your replies in the comment section.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

  1. Contentment!

  2. This advice couldn’t come at a better time for me, Chris. My novel, as of yesterday, is up on Amazon (Title: A Trip, a Tryst, and a Terror) and, while I do hope many folks purchase it, the satisfaction of finally having my book in print and knowing I will be touching so many lives far outweighs any financial gain. Great reminder, my friend!
