December 21

The next step in man’s evolution will be the survival of the wisest.

Deepak Chopra

Well.  Here we are at December 21, 2012.  As I look at that date there is one significant point I’d like to make.  For those who have followed this blog for awhile now you should be aware that I look for significance everywhere.  Not only is December 21, 2012 the supposed end of the Mayan Calendar.  That date alone has special meaning to me as it is the birthday of my Aunt Betty.

Aunt Bet always looked out for me.  When she moved to Madison from New Haven and I wasn’t driving, and I was in school at Southern Connecticut State University, she’d go out of her way to drive into New Haven and bring me home.  There were so many other examples of things she did for me.  I will highlight one other then move on to the meat of this post.  Aunt Bet moved to Madison in 1997 and bought a condo.  Unbeknownst to her a little over three years later she’d be living with my Mom.

So what happened to the condo?  You ask.  I moved in with her blessing.  It was the single best thing she could have given me.  And I will be forever in her debt and be forever grateful for having the opportunity.  If this gift hadn’t been bestowed on me, there is absolutely no way I would have been able to remain in Madison.  This is yet another example of my God looking out for me, arranging the pieces of my life so as to make this possible.

So why is December 21, 2012 significant?

Many are predicting the end of days.
Many are predicting cataclysmic events.

I’m not.
I’m taking Deepak Chopra’s quote above but turning it a bit.
My feeling is:
The next step in man’s evolution will be spiritual.

I think we are on the cusp of a real spiritual breakthrough.  It may not happen on December 21, but I do believe we are moving inexorably in a positive direction.  You only have to look back to see we are moving forward:
–Law of Attraction has become a popular movement.  Go into any bookstore and you’ll find a section on the topic.  This is something completely new within the past several years and a clear indication that something is brewing.
–The Spirituality movement is also bigger now than it ever has been.  Again look at bookstores, look at some of the movies that are being made today.

Something is brewing.
Being the eternal optimist that I am, I have to believe that something monumentally spiritual is about to transform us.

What do you think?  Let me know in the comment section.

Be Happy!  Be Well!  Be Positive!
Blessings to you.

Chris

Will not be blogging the week of Christmas.
Look for my return on January 2, 2013

  1. Even I’m an eternal optimist, Chris and that’s the reason the end of the world does not make me jittery. You’re right when you say that there are many who are choosing to walk the spiritual way – an inner awareness is churning within the people and the future definitely belongs to the spiritual. Incidentally, I have also written a post about doomsday today.

I wish you the joy and love of the season.

    Joy always,
    Susan

  2. I absolutely agree with you, Chris. Being spiritual is also being wise. I’ve been listening to Iyanla Vanzant over the last two days and I must tell you that her words have been resonating deeply with me. There is certainly a shift in spirituality too and I’m loving it.

  3. I will miss your blogs Christmas week.

I had an Aunt Betty, too. And my mother went by the name Betty. You brought back a lot of memories for me, just now. Thanks.

  4. Praying, praying for that spiritual growth to spring forth! In my heart of hearts, I know this country and the world needs repentance and revival. May it come to pass!
Blessings, Chris, and Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  5. Hi Chris:
I especially live your take on Deepak Chopra’s quote, “The next step in man’s evolution will be spiritual.” I also believe that we are definitely on the verge of a breakthrough. God only knows when it would be, but it will come to pass. I was not fortunate to have an aunt..just uncles. I am happy nonetheless. Have a great day and have a Merry Christmas and a bright and prosperous New Year 2013!
